I remember the old people painting on paper. Painting the watercolours. I was best friends with Gillian Namatjira. After school I went to the house. Albert, her grandfather, was painting watercolours, and every day he took the taxi to Alice Springs. It was cheaper then. The ladies painted too. [...] Mostly I like to make a really good pot, smooth for painting and especially mix the colours properly, painting bush tucker and pmere, that's my country. I look at the pot and then the country is in my mind. So I paint it. That's what we do at Hermannsburg here. We ladies, we painting the country on the pots. Hermannsburg is famous for watercolour painting, now we have pottery painting and I am doing it like my family, especially Adolph Inkamala and Russell Inkamala.
